I had a amazing time at the Photography show in NEC Birmingham on the 1st March. I left really early from my home town of Exeter at 6:30am. I had to get the bus to Bristol, because of the train track are in maintenance due to the storm we had. Then from Bristol to Birmingham which I arrived about 10ish. Got there just the doors was opening. I had to walk in the NEC for about 10 minutes to find the location of where the show is. I was amazed how big was the place! there was lots of people who are beginners to pros.
First thing I did was look at the Canon Stand as it was right next to the entrance. I really wanted to play with the Canon 5D Mark III. I am hoping to get this camera for my birthday on the 7th April. They had there whole camera gear out from the Top Range Lens to Camera and Video Cameras.
They I went walking round to find the Live Stage and the Catwalk which I went I saw one speaker. I got lost trying to find my way round. But they had everything on show. Even the new Nikon D4s which was announced a week before the show! I did play with the retro style Nikon DF.
They have lot of promotions going on at the event which are only at trades prices which is a bonus. They are cheaper than High Street Prices and some Online Retailers. I went and bought some photo papers. They was selling them at good prices and I wanted to try some pro papers rather than the canon ones. I ended up buying Canson Infinity, got 3 different packs and I will be buying them again! They make my images stand out more.
I also went and looked at a printing company who pictures are high quality. I was stunted to see how this pictures are printed. The company is called The Print Foundry and they are based in London. They only do prints for trades which I was lucky to get access too. They told me that I can get a Free 12x16" Fine Art Print. So I ordered one the other day and I have a account with them. The prices are really good for different types of prints.
They had all sorts going on I could write Pages and Pages of what was happing. I am only going to keep it short. They had models posing for people and they had Darth Vader their. They have a garden area for people who are into Macro Photography.
At the Catwalk I went and saw a pro photographer Andrew Appleton. His talk and presentation was about Single Light Set Up on Flash & Strobes. It was amazing how you talk about what Shutter Speed and Aperture to put the camera in . Looking on screen to see the results of the images that was taken. I have learn lots of things and makes me want to do something like that in the future.
After that I went back to Canon Stand and Playing with the 5D Mark III. I am really hoping to go full frame on my birthday. I left the place bit early and grabbed a coffee on the way back home. I am 100% going again and for more than one day! Anyone who is interested in photography should go you will learn loads.
